• The CDs are separately titled: "Dawn to Dusk" and "Twilight to Starlight". The LP re-arranges the song order, adds two songs (one exclusive to this edition) and names the six sides "Dawn", "Tea Time", "Dusk", "Twilight", "Midnight" and "Starlight".
• The track "Infinite Sadness" is actually an unused Siamese Dream-era track, and was produced by Butch Vig.
• Some copies sold in France were bundled with the Live In Chicago 5-song CD. See the promo section for more details.
• The 3LP version of MCIS was originally solicited in February of 1996 as a limited-to-5000, numbered edition. When it was finally released in April, it was allegedly limited to 15,000. Since that time, numbers above 18,000 have been confirmed, leaving open the question of how many copies were actually pressed.
• In late 1998, the MCIS 3LP was repressed. The new pressing is unnumbered (leaving the number box empty), and the sleeve is made of flimsier material.
• The US version of the CD has two booklets (one with pictures, one with lyrics) with a total of 30 pages, the UK CD and 3LP both have a single book with 12 pages.
• The Japanese version comes in a white double jewel case with the same two booklets as the US version as well as a Japanese lyric sheet and 4 pages of Japanese writings by Mr. Midori Tsukagoshi, dated September 1995.
• The CD version sold in Europe is manufactured in Italy because it allows the price to be kept in line with the US release (approximately US$20).
• In August 2011, Billy responded to a twitter question about how long it took to write MCIS, that it took "4 months to write (basically), 6 months to record (although i continued to write during the recording process)".
• NOTE: There have been recent reports of fake pressings of the MCIS vinyl. If buying from ebay or elsewhere, ensure that the front cover has a white square (earlier pressings will have a number there, later ones may not), and be especially wary of colored vinyl. • 2012 deluxe reissue has the following features: "5 CDs include 64 bonus tracks of previously unreleased material or alternate versions of MELLON COLLIE era songs, and its DVD features a live show filmed at the Brixton Academy, London (1996-05-15) and bonus performances from the German music television show Rockpalast (1996-04-07). It all comes housed in a 12 x 12 lift-top box with magnetic closure, reimagined cover art and velvet-lined disc holder. The package includes 2 books containing personal notes, lyrics, new collage artwork, plus a Decoupage kit for creating your own scenes from the MELLON COLLIE universe. The bonus content and special features were curated from the band's archives by CORGAN, and have been painstakingly remastered for the first time from the original master tapes by Bob Ludwig."
• The following bonus tracks are instrumental: 3-01, 3-05, 3-07, 3-09, 3-13, 3-17, 3-19, 3-20, 4-09, 4-11, 4-14, 4-17, 4-19, 5-01, 5-05, 5-09, 5-13, 5-16, 5-17, 5-19, 5-22, 5-23. Track 4-06 is NOT instrumental, despite being labeled as such.
• Meladori Magpie, The Aeroplane Flies High, Pennies and Rotten Apples are the same as their TAFH release
• Feelium, Knuckles, Blast, Speed, New Waver, Dizzle, Zoom and Phang are full-length versions of songs included in Pastichio Medley- all but Phang are from the same takes (Knuckles is an un-distorted version of that used in PM)
• Glamey Glamay, Blast, Speed and Dizzle are different versions than those found on Billy's Gravity Demos I
• Of the "BT 2012 mix" tracks, Cupid de Locke, Cherry and Isolation are traditional "remixes" in the sense that tracks were manipulated and rearranged (see song pages for more details), while My Blue Heaven and Marquis in Spades appear to have only been re-mixed in the sense of level adjustments- other than some very minor speed differences, they are identical to their original releases
• Tracks 3-02, 3-05, 3-06, 3-08, 3-15, 3-19, 3-21, 4-01, 5-02 and 5-21 are higher quality and speed-adjusted (generally slightly slower) versions of those found on the bootleg releases, MCIS Demos I, II and III.
